They are high, or rather the platform is thick, so you get a little height with these and you don’t need to worry about a toe slipping over the end and touching the hot pavement in summer. The fit is completely adjustable on both the ankle and the toes, so that’s good. There is still elasticity after that so expect some rubbing and flopping, though these haven’t caused any blisters yet.The arch support is substantial, and much harder than I’m used to, firmer even than high end running sneakers. That took a bit to get used to, and it’s not super comfortable, but I think it’s probably healthier for the feet so I’ll take it. It isn’t exactly uncomfortable either. Just sort of there. The color on the inside sole rubs off, so expect these to dye your feet the first few times you wear them. They’re cute, but they’re extremely casual. I wouldn’t wear them to some parties where I’d wear fancier sandals, but they’re great for the beach and for the park. I can walk on the sand in them comfortably and I can go on long birdwatching tours with a lot of uneven terrain no problem.
